Architectural description of the Church of the Tolentini The eighteenth-century fa�ade, by Andrea Tirali, deceives the sixteenth-century origins of the vulgar church of the Tolentini. In 1528 San Gaetano da Thiene arrived to Venice with some religious and immediately built a small oratory, with the collection of alms they could buy the land adjacent to the new church and the convent of the Teatini Fathers, entrusted the project to Vincezzo Scamozzi who brought it completed between 1591 and 1602. The inside preserves precious examples of 17th century Venetian painting: Jacopo Palma il Giovane, Sante Peranda, Leandro Bassano, Pietro Damini. In the large presbytery there are the altar of Baldassare Longhena and the baroque Monument to the Patriarch Morosini by F. Parodi. How to get to Church of Tolentini The Church of the Tolentini is located inside Santa Croce in Campo dei Tolentini. You can walk there from Piazzale Roma in less than two minutes. Passing the first bridge in the direction of the Papadopolis Gardens you come to a small bridge at the base of which on the left is the Campo dei Tolentini where there is the imposing fa�ade of the church.
