Architectural description of the Church of Sant'Andrea de la Zirada

Founded at the same time as the adjoining monastery in 1329, the church of Sant'Andrea della Zirada underwent numerous interventions. From the Gothic period, it maintains the faade with a typical mistiline crown.

The one-nave interior with the flat ceiling preserves the gothic chorus that joins the seventeenth-century stuccowork. Immediately, the Dead Christ between San Carlo Borromeo and the angels by Domenico Tintoretto leaps to his eyes. There are also two important altars: Sant'Agostino and two angels by Paris Bordon and San Gerolamo by Veronese.

Ultimately, the church is now included in an urban context removed from its origin that projects it into a modernity that Venice does not know and refers more to metropolitan cities like London or Barcelona.
