History of the Chiesa dei Santi Apostoli di Cristo of Venice
Although it is a church of very ancient foundation to which the first fugitives of the mainland already referred, today it does not have any particular architectural importance, since the numerous restorations have simplified the external structure too much.
The interior, however, fully preserves the sixteenth-century structure: a single nave supported by a double order of pillars. While the Corner Chapel is the only fifteenth-century part of the church – the work by Mauro Codussi – where was buried the famous Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus and whose monument seems to be attributed to Tullio Lombardo.
The church also preserves one of Giambattista Tiepolo’s most spiritual canvases: The Communion of Saint Lucia.
