Previsione della marea a Venezia
Tides forecast center of Venice - with about 3 hours of advance for a height above 110 cm, acoustic signals are emitted from 18 powerful sirens installed after the exceptional tide of 1968. The system was perfected in December 2007 and is now able to provide more precise information on the level of the tide that will be reached in the historic center of Venice. The acoustic signals are emitted by the bell cells of the bell towers and have the following meaning::

  • 110 cm: a prolonged sound on the same "note"
  • 120 cm: two sounds in increasing scale
  • 130 cm: three sounds in increasing scale
  • 140 cm e oltre: four sounds in increasing scale
The signal is emitted several times to allow the population and tourists an easy understanding of the level of tides that will be reached. It is therefore sufficient to count the signals issued to understand the extent of the tide coming to Venice..
