At Palazzo Fortuny, an exhibition, opened in conjunction with the 58th Biennale Arte, dedicates an exhibition space for the first time to both Mariano Fortuny, a multifaceted Spanish artist naturalized in Venice, and to his father Mariano Fortuny y Marsal, one of the greatest painters of the 19th century Spanish. The Biennale was one of the stages of Mariano Fortuny while he was alive and, shortly after his death, he dedicated a room to the two Fortunys in the Spanish Pavilion.

At Palazzo Fortuny until March 2019 an exhibition explores the importance of the concept of "ruin" in Western culture; ruin as an aesthetic element that has always characterized our relationship with the past, often triggering a feeling of nostalgia, but also triggering an immediate ethical and moral confrontation with our ancestors.
