La Murata in Mestre Venice
The Teatro della Murata or Murata's Theatre is located in the center of
Mestre, where once ran the medieval city walls of which now have only
a few tracks that give the name of the theater.
The theater was inaugurated April 10, 1970 with a performance of "The
Turkey" by Slawomir Mrozek through the initiative of the Association for
Theatre Mestre (TPM). The theater stands out in the local area and to
give voice to all the current theatrical landscape of the Italian having
brought on the stage both famous and unknown actors (Roberto Benigni,
Marco Messeri, Nico Pepe, Dimitri Tamarov Lee Köniz, Marco Paolini, Lella
Costa , Sabina Guzzanti, the Society of Dario For).
The Theatre gives also home to the Theatre Workshop for dissemination
of theatrical culture by organizing courses for children, teens and adults.
Other initiatives: presentation of books, children's activities, musical
events, dance classes.
The Teatro della Murata hosts 70 seats and promotes itself through an
agreement with the Department of Culture and Entertainment of the City
of Venice, which guarantees the survival of programming.
